Senior Husna Afzal was recognized for outstanding academic, athletic leadership and extra-curricular service to her school and community at the Illinois Principals Association – North Cook Region at a student recognition breakfast on March 18. Students representing Wheeling, Prospect, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove, Hersey, Forest View and Maine East High Schools (among others) were in attendance.

Husna is the skateboarder who always gets up after every fall. She’s the type of person who always thinks,“What can I do now?” instead of “Why me?” She’s better than she was yesterday and she works hard to be even better tomorrow.

While I am an extremely proud principal of 1,700 phenomenal students, Husna has made numerous contributions that bring smiles to so many of us here at Steinmetz. It’s an honor for me to see her recognized for her achievements. Let us all give Husna a big shout out!
