Things that all high school freshmen should know

  • You will experience both achievement and loss.
  • Sometimes your childhood friend(s) turn out not being your friend(s).
  • Being kind is more important than being cool.
  • Always turn your homework in completed and on time.
  • Respect your teachers.
  • If someone isn’t treating you well, leave them.
  • Some mistakes you make cannot be fixed.
  • Forgive yourself.
  • Learn how to correctly use the word “no.”
  • If you’re having trouble, ask for help.
  • Sleep well every night.
  • Remember that a C is still passing.
  • A test score is not a reflection of you as a person.
  • High school will eventually end.
  • It’s better to have a few good friends than a lot of bad friends.
  • Do not verbally or physically bully anyone, ever.
  • Adults don’t always understand how hard high school can be.
  • Do everything in moderation.
  • It’s okay to take a day off every once in a while.
  • Do things you enjoy with people you like.
  • Everyone gets acne.
  • Don’t date the same person twice.
  • Be honest with your friends. (This does not mean saying cruel things and acting like a jerk.)
  • Pencils on the ground in the hallway are absolutely fair game.
  • Have good posture while sitting, unless you like back pains.
  • You will grow in the most uncomfortable ways, very sweaty and awkward.
  • You are your first priority, be kind to yourself.
