After several months of rehearsals, set and costume creation, lights and sound work, the drama club performed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
I enjoyed myself in this year’s school play, “A Midsummer Nights Dream.” It took a lot of hard work, but in the end it was a wonderful experience.
So those of you who are wondering, “What exactly did you guys do?” I’m here to give you a bit of insight on what went down during our many rehearsals.
To start off our rehearsal, we’d do some warm ups, such as tongue twisters, and other vocal exercises. Then we’d do a couple of stretches to get help wake us up. At other times we’d play a game called “Zip, Zap, Zop” which helps us focus on eye contact.
After our warm ups, Mrs. Meunier would ask us to work on a specific scene. At times, it took quite a couple of times to get a scene looking just right. Sometimes practice felt overwhelming, but in conclusion, I had a blast spending time with everyone working on the play!
The cast opened the play, an adaption of William Shakespeare’s comedy, on March 18. The actors performed for elementary school students on March 24, and for Steinmetz students and staff on Thursday, April 2, during third and sixth periods.
“They gave it their all,” senior Haley Silvestri said. “It’s a tough play, and they made the story understandable and very enjoyable.”
