Courageous season for girls soccer

By Yadira Abarca

This year was the hardest year for the girls’ soccer team. Thanks to the amazing effort and accomplishment of the 2014 varsity Streaks, this year’s team got the experience to play against the toughest schools in our district. We moved up to the premier division, facing schools such as Lane Tech, Whitney Young, etc

Three players, pictured on right, were recognized on our team. Gabriela Caudel (left) and Ana Rodriguez (right) won All-Conference form the top conference in the city. Yadira Abarca (middle) won 2nd Team All-City and All-Sectional for State.

Every game was played with dedication and hard work. Thanks to Mr.Kotcherha for giving the team the motivation that we needed. Throughout this season, the girls learned to keep on playing and not give up.

It was a great pleasure being captain of this year’s varsity soccer team. I believed in all of them since day one. I just want to thank them for putting up with my screams and even though we had some tough times, we never let that get in the way of our playing time.

I am thankful to have experienced playing against premier teams with every single one of the girls in the team. Remember to never put your head down and always keep on trying.

I wish next year’s team the best of luck! With a great coach such as Mr.Kotcherha, you will always have motivation to play.

Also, a big shout out to Pollo (Gabriela Caudel) and Ana Rodriguez for winning the ‘All Conference’ award. You girls were outstanding and I will really miss playing with you guys. Thanks to Pollo for being a great captain by my side and I am sure you’ll do just as great next year.

Going against the top schools in our district takes a lot of courage, courage that was shown by these amazing girls in the 2015 Girls’ Soccer Team.
