Streaks win first two home games

By Desiree Erturk

Streaks varsity softball beat North Grand 9-8 on March 31 and Lake View 11-0 on April 1.

Most of the players were nervous for their first game ever on the varsity level.

It was perfect softball weather, not too cold or not too hot. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day for the first game. Right after school the girls hurried to the field to rake and get prepared.

The first two games had been cancelled so the team had more time to practice to get ready for the season opener. When the moment came where they had to actually play, all the girls felt butterflies in their stomachs but they knew that no matter what they were going to give it their all.

Surely the girls did give it their all; they made mistakes but stuck with it. Despite the mistakes, the girls cheered each other on to do their best.

This year the coach Robin Russo pulled up four freshmen to play on the varsity. The team is full of juniors and freshmen and one returning varsity player.
