Volleyball celebrates with end-of-season awards and banquet

By Monica Ladderan

Volleyball is a really competitive sport and some of our volleyball athletes are very dedicated to volleyball. The Girls’ Volleyball Team had a great season this year, from teaching the freshies volleyball to playing with dedication for their last year here at Steinmetz.

All the volleyball teams – Freshmen, JV, and Varsity – did a phenomenal job this year with hard work and also having fun, especially the varsity girls. Some of them have been playing for all four years and they have become such a close family.

To properly end the season, the freshman, JV, and varsity celebrated together in Room 128 with a buffet of tacos, rice, and water. The coaches were proud of the volleyball teams and made some speeches. The volleyball teams were awarded with certificates, pins, and plaques. One of our freshmen volleyball team athlete received a MVP award.

As the volleyball team members ate tacos, shared volleyball memories, and got awarded, they had a few words to say during the ceremony. Most of the JV and Varsity volleyball girls made speeches during the ceremony. The Varsity especially shared a lot of words and memories about volleyball to their teammates and coaches. The coaches also shared a few words to their soon to be last of year teammates and new teammates.

From my own experience playing on a volleyball team, I enjoyed it very much. Even though it was my first year here at Steinmetz and playing volleyball, I made so many new friends and had many memories in a short period of time.

This ceremony that happened was for the volleyball team. I was so excited to be reunited with my volleyball team. We ate tacos, talked about the memories we shared together, and got some awards. I was honored to be presented the award of MVP of the Girls’ Freshman Volleyball Team. My coaches Yuridia Espinosa and Karina Child chose me to be the MVP and I was literally about to cry in tears of joy.

I really have a passion for volleyball. Also, from my experience in the celebration, I was overjoyed to be reunited with volleyball team. Even though I only knew those girls for like 2 months, they will always be family to me. Although I didn’t show my sadness of ending volleyball, I was very broken hearted to end the season. Even though the volleyball season is over, I still play with my best friend Lesli Avila. Every Tuesdays and Thursdays I play volleyball with her and we goof around.
