Streaks lose in 2nd round of state playoffs

By Kevon Proctor

The Steinmetz Streaks went into its second-round state playoff game 19-9. Seeded 10th, going against the 5th seed team Ridgewood, the Streaks were looked upon as the underdogs.

At the game on Feb. 28, the Streaks started off strong with their sophomore guard Brendan Myers putting up the first two points then sophomore guard Quame Gibson hitting back-to-back 3’s.

Five minutes into the first quarter the Streaks were up 8-1 leaving Ridgewood surprised. Steinmetz kept the intensity up, finishing the half with the score of 32-26 Steinmetz way.

After doing so well and building a 10-point lead, everything started to fall. Ridgewood Rebels forced turnover after turnover, shifting the momentum their way. The Rebels quickly took away the lead and started one of their own. After a great effort, the Streaks fell to the Rebels 61-44.
